About Us

The Spine Research Institute (SRI) is a unique group of multi-disciplinary experts and facilities dedicated to the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of spine and other musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

History

The foundation of the Spine Research Institute was created in 1982 by our Executive & Scientific Director, Dr. William Marras. What began as a small faculty research lab quickly evolved into a growing collaboration between experts in a variety of complementary fields across engineering, life sciences, and medicine. In 2012, the Spine Research Institute was officially born to recognize a formal collaboration between the College of Engineering and the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University. As we grow, we continue to include new experts, partners, laboratories, and capabilities in our shared mission.
